5 Benefits of Taking English Classes Online

When looking for an English teacher, it’s often the first thought to find an in-person English tutor or perhaps a local English class, but this can be a difficult task. There is a limit to the availability of teachers and schools, and scheduling around work and other obligations is often not possible. That’s where online classes come in. So let’s talk about some of the many the benefits of taking online English classes:

1. Your ideal teacher may not live in your city.

Most students will tell you the right teacher can make or break a class experience. There are all kinds of different teaching styles, and when it comes to learning and American accent or English fluency, it’s imperative to find the right match. The right teacher for you may live in a different city, state, or even country. With online classes, it doesn’t matter. You and your ideal teacher can meet on weekly basis as if there is no distance between you at all!

2. You don’t have to commute.

Even if you do find an English teacher in your city, there will usually be a commute to get to your lesson. For a class that may be only 25-60 minutes, even a short 15-minute commute will mean losing at least an extra 30 minutes from your day. Not to mention, with online classes you will save on gas or transit fare.

3. Scheduling is more flexible.

Life happens, emergencies come up, schedules change, or sometimes you just need a day off. With the time and hassle of commutes out of the way, changing schedules is easier and more flexible, and emergencies are easier to accommodate.

4. You can be in the comfort of your own home, office, or favorite coffee shop.

My students take their English classes wherever it is most convenient for them. Some take classes at home just before work, some take time on their lunch break, and some take classes from their favorite coffee shop while sipping on a latte. I even have students that keep up with lessons while on vacation or on extended trips out of the country.

5. The ease makes it easier.

The most important thing to remember is this: The simpler it is to get to class, the better able you will be to keep the commitment to yourself and your English learning. Removing barriers such as traffic, bad weather, and an overly-packed schedule will help you reach your goals to speak English more fluently and confidently.
