Is it possible to improve my English?

#GOALS English says...

YES!

Here’s what I think:

Accent reduction and fluency coaching is a vital next step if you have found you’ve hit a plateau with your English progress and don’t know how to improve from where you are.

*Note: I call this work accent reduction because that is generally what student search for when looking for online accent training or a virtual accent coach, however, my philosophy is that you don't need to "reduce" your accent… You need to learn a new one! This work isn’t about diminishing your accent, but learning to speak in new ways that help you express yourself in English more clearly.

Learning an American accent can be fun and simple. It takes consistent focused work, but it doesn't have to be hard or painful. Making pronunciation and fluency practice a part of your daily routine will help you see big improvements over time.

Many other English courses will teach you the rules of grammar or extensive vocabulary lists, but what we offer at #GOALS English is the opportunity to PRACTICE these rules until they become like second nature.

I teach my students exactly what they need to see big improvements in their English fluency. I don’t waste time on what you already know, and I don’t focus on areas of practice you are not concerned about. I use my time with students wisely and give them resources to continue to practice after our session together.

About Monica:

Hi! I’m Monica! I am an English teacher, American accent coach, actor and singer (among other things!) I have a BA in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and over ten years of teaching experience.

My ESL teaching career began in 2009 when I moved to Seoul, South Korea and taught English as a Second Language for two years. After that I also taught at several schools in the US and now teach online full-time.

After seeing the many gaps in my students’ English learning when coming out of a formal classroom education, I wanted to be the teacher they needed to help fill in those gaps. My students have found that even after years of speaking English, memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules, and possibly hours of English classes, they often still struggle to speak English fluently and with correct pronunciation. That’s where a fluency and pronunciation coach can help!

I have taken a deep look at where my students are struggling with their English pronunciation and fluency and worked hard to create curriculum to address those needs clearly and simply. I used my background in theater and acting to help students understand finer points of speaking skills such as sound resonance and placement and projection. I also often use theater exercise and songs (if my students like to!) to teach pronunciation.

I have worked with students from all over the world at every level of English proficiency and I cannot wait to help you achieve your #GOALS in English!
